Job Description:
- Food safety specialists are responsible for ensuring that the food produced is safe to consume.
- Food safety specialists may also be tasked with inspecting processing manufacturing plants or other facilities where food is handled or processed. To ensure that facilities are following proper sanitary procedures and handling food safely.
- Monitors compliance to implement policy regarding Food Safety are based on: Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
- Development, implementation and management of effective food safety and hygiene programs to assure proper programs are in place to meet strategic goals as well as all applicable regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements
Job Specification:
- Work experience as a Food Safety officer or similar role.
- Working knowledge in regards with HACCP Hazzard Analysis Critical Control Point.
- Fundamental knowledge relevant to regulatory standards of food hygiene practices
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail in terms of identify potential hazards.
- Able to implement or come up with corrective action or recommendation for food safety improvement.
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Food Safety Officer.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspecting the food safety standard of food production in manufacturing or in supply chain.
- Auditing food production premises where food is produced from raw material, storage, preparation, production and supply in relation to food safety guidelines.
- Managing complaints and investigations regarding health and food safety and eventually come up with corrective action or recommendation.
- Issuing food safety guidelines and ratings for food outlet and production area as an inspector
- Training food handlers in proper food safety techniques and procedures
- Interacting with other departments within a business or organization to promote food safety awareness and educate staff about potential risks
- Identifying potential food hazards by using HACCP to avoid the occurrence of any food deviation that result to food borne illnesses.
- Monitoring the storage conditions (Chillers, freezers, & dry storage) of perishable food items to ensure that they do not spoil prematurely
- Consolidated report in relation to any deviation regarding Hygiene, Maintenance and Shelf life of raw materials and food produced.
