Context

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of metro rail infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical design for one or more of the following asset types: tunnels including bored, cut-and-cover, pre-cast arch, and cross passages; portals, vent shafts, and headhouses; radio masts, pumping stations, sidings, and crossovers; depot approaches and junctions; and stations.

Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and delivery of electrical designs across metro rail infrastructure projects. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce safe, efficient, and compliant engineering solutions through concept, preliminary, detailed design, and construction support stages.

Missions/Main Duties
  • Prepare and develop electrical design deliverables for metro rail infrastructure projects.
  • Support the design of electrical systems for tunnels, stations, shafts, portals, depot approaches, junctions, pumping stations, radio mast installations, sidings, and crossovers.
  • Produce and review calculations, design reports, technical specifications, drawings, load schedules, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems including LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, cable containment, and equipment interfaces.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, fire/life safety, signaling, communications, and rail systems teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable project standards, client requirements, and relevant electrical and railway codes.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings, interdisciplinary reviews, hazard reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Support tender documentation, technical clarifications, and responses to contractor and client comments.
  • Provide technical input during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover phases as required.
  • Assist in identifying design risks, clashes, and opportunities for value engineering and optimization.

The candidate should have relevant electrical design experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Tunnels: bored tunnels, cut-and-cover tunnels, pre-cast arch structures, and cross passages
  • Portals, vent shafts, and headhouses
  • Radio masts
  • Pumping stations
  • Sidings and crossovers
  • Depot approaches and junctions
  • Stations

Relevant systems experience may include electrical power supply and distribution, lighting systems, tunnel and station services, emergency systems, earthing and bonding, equipment room supplies, cable routing, outdoor electrical installations, and interface coordination with other railway systems.

Profile/Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Typically 4–8 years of relevant experience in electrical design for rail, metro, transportation, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in electrical design for at least one of the asset types listed above.
  • Good knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design standards, and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary project environments and engineering coordination processes.
  • Sound technical understanding of electrical design for infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to prepare engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with design software, CAD tools, and electrical engineering applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Awareness of safety in design and constructability considerations.
