Rigger

Job Description

• Prepare, inspect, and maintain rigging equipment such as ropes, cables, chains, slings, and shackles to ensure safety and reliability.
• Secure loads for lifting, moving, and positioning using cranes or hoisting equipment, following approved rigging plans and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with crane operators, signalers, and site supervisors to ensure precise and safe load handling during lifting operations.
• Conduct site inspections to assess rigging requirements and identify potential hazards or obstacles.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations during rigging activities.
• Assist in the assembly and disassembly of scaffolding, structures, or heavy equipment as needed.
• Report any equipment defects or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records of rigging operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Participate in safety briefings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent is generally required.
• Vocational training or certification in rigging, lifting operations, or heavy equipment handling is preferred.
• Relevant safety training certifications such as OSHA, Working at Heights, or Rigging and Lifting Safety are highly desirable.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and load dynamics is advantageous.
• Previous experience in railway construction, infrastructure projects, or similar industrial environments is a plus.
• Practical experience in rigging operations, including the safe handling, securing, and movement of heavy loads.
• Knowledge of rigging equipment such as slings, chains, shackles, ropes, and lifting devices.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and standards related to rigging and lifting operations (e.g., OSHA, local safety codes).
• Experience working in construction, infrastructure, or railway projects is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret rigging plans and lifting diagrams.
• Strong understanding of load dynamics, weight distribution, and mechanical advantage principles.
• Good communication skills for effective coordination with crane operators, supervisors, and team members.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including working at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures is beneficial.
