Linux Engineer (Permanent WFH)

• Design and develop embedded Linux software for BirdDog's next-gen video products.
• Work with Rockchip SoCs (RK3328, RK3566, RK3588) to implement and optimize video pipelines using VPU APIs and DRM/KMS.
• Interface directly with hardware to manage video input/output, encode/decode, and display subsystems.
• Optimize boot time, system performance, and media pipeline reliability in real-world production use cases.
• Integrate and test AV over IP protocols including NDI, SRT, and Dante where applicable.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and software teams to ensure cohesive product development.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex system-level issues across video, audio, and network interfaces.
• Contribute to maintaining and improving our embedded Linux distribution and build systems (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot).

• Strong proficiency with Embedded Linux development and system-level programming in C/C++.
• Proven experience with Rockchip SoCs (especially RK3328, RK3566, and RK3588).
• Deep knowledge of VPU API development, DRM/KMS programming, and media pipelines.
• Experience with gstreamer, FFmpeg, and video codec integration (H.264, H.265).
• Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development and optimization.
• Understanding of AV over IP technologies, especially NDI and Dante, is a strong bonus.
• Comfort with Git workflows, CI tools, and collaborative development practices.
• Passion for high-performance, low-latency systems in real-world environments.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

• Experience contributing to open-source media projects.
• Exposure to FPGA or hardware acceleration frameworks.
• Familiarity with remote debugging tools and hardware test automation.
