INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN- SUMMARY
The position ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical equipment by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing electrical faults, and implementing timely repairs in accordance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable electrical standards.
The Industrial Electrician also supports equipment reliability, operational continuity, and continuous improvement initiatives through effective maintenance practices, technical documentation, and collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure maximum operational reliability and minimize downtime.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, and distribution panels.
- Install, test, and commission electrical equipment, control systems, and power distribution systems for new projects and facility upgrades.
- Conduct routine inspections of cranes, conveyors, dust collectors, compressors, warehouse facilities, and other port equipment to identify electrical deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals to support maintenance and repair activities.
- Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, automation systems, sensors, relays, contactors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Perform electrical testing using appropriate instruments such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers (megger), clamp meters, and power analyzers.
- Monitor the condition and performance of electrical equipment and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Assist in the implementation of energy conservation initiatives and electrical system optimization programs.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of facility lighting systems, emergency power systems, grounding systems, and electrical protection devices.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations to restore operations with minimal disruption.
- Coordinate with operations personnel, contractors, and other maintenance teams during maintenance activities, shutdowns, and project executions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts utilization.
- Support spare parts inventory management by identifying critical electrical components and recommending stock requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Implement and adhere to safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and hazard identification processes.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, technical training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the evaluation, installation, and commissioning of new electrical systems and automation equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in electrical rooms, substations, workshops, and work areas.
- Perform other electrical maintenance and technical duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a Technical Vocational Course, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology (Major in Electrical), Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Holder of a valid TESDA National Certificate (NC II or NC III) in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) or other relevant technical certifications is preferred.
- Registered Master Electrician (RME) license is an advantage.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in ports, terminals, manufacturing plants, warehouses, logistics facilities, power plants, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, switchgears, transformers, motors, motor control centers (MCCs), circuit breakers, and protection systems.
- Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of cranes, conveyors, dust collectors, compressors, pumps, and other industrial equipment is highly desirable.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, relays, contactors, sensors, and industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), and industrial control systems is an advantage.
- Skilled in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic instruments such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers (megger), clamp meters, phase sequence testers, and power analyzers.
- Knowledge of the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), electrical safety standards, and applicable government regulations.
- Understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices for industrial facilities and equipment.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Permit-to-Work systems, and occupational safety requirements.
- Ability to diagnose complex electrical problems and implement effective corrective actions with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, teamwork, and technical reporting skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor industrial environments when required.
- Willing to work on shifting schedules, extended hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as necessary.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
