Job Duties of an Accounting Specialist

Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment.

Prepare and send customer invoices.

Reconcile accounts and follow up on outstanding receivables.

General Ledger Maintenance: Post journal entries.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.

Assist with month-end and year-end closings.

Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.

Monitor daily cash activity and update records accordingly.

Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing or data entry.

Ensure payroll transactions are recorded accurately in the financial system.

Financial Reporting: Prepare internal financial reports and summaries.

Assist with budget tracking and forecasting.

Expense Reporting: Process employee expense reports.

Ensure compliance with company policies and proper documentation.

Data Entry and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records.

Enter financial data into accounting software.

Audit Support: Provide documentation and support during audits.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Tax and Compliance: Prepare sales tax filings and other compliance documents.

Assist in compiling data for tax reporting.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.

Communicate with vendors and customers regarding billing and payment issues.

Qualifications/Requirements

Job Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).

Coursework in bookkeeping, financial accounting, and payroll is a plus.
Experience:
Preferably with atleast 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, but fresh graduates are welcome to apply too.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is highly desirable.

Prior experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger preferred.
