- Conduct soil and rock testing (field and laboratory)
- Perform borehole drilling and sampling
- Evaluate groundwater conditions
- Analyze soil properties (strength, density, permeability)
- Interpret geotechnical reports and field data
- Use modeling software to predict ground behavior
- Design foundations (shallow and deep foundations)
- Recommend earthworks and slope stability solutions
- Plan retaining walls, embankments, and excavation support systems
- Identify potential hazards (landslides, sinkholes, liquefaction)
- Provide mitigation strategies for construction risks
- Monitor site conditions during construction
- Ensure compliance with design specifications
- Adjust designs if unexpected ground conditions arise
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports
- Communicate findings to engineers, architects, and clients
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
- Professional license (e.g., Civil Engineer license, depending on country)
- Knowledge of geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio)
