QC / Safety Officer
JOB SUMMARY:
The QC / Safety Officer implements sampling plans and procedures for testing product quality. He/She maintains standards by verifying test results and audits that comply with food safety regulations and requirements. He/She ensures the optimal operating conditions for the laboratory's infrastructure and equipment and investigates technical faults or practices.
He/She implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with good laboratory practices (GLPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs). He/She also implements regulatory requirements and guidelines in food safety management and control, such as ISO standards and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system.
He/She possesses excellent analytical skills and sound judgment to establish critical guidelines, parameters and procedures within the laboratory. He/She should work well in a team and possess strong communication skills to interact with and guide others effectively.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Analyze possible reasons for product defects and quality lapses.
- Analyze possible reasons into process deviations and for product defects and quality lapses.
- Implement SOPs and infrastructure requirements for laboratories and optimal calibration standards in line with good laboratory practice (GLP) requirements.
- Implement inspection and testing protocols for materials, products and packaging.
- Implement methods for the testing quality of materials, products and packaging.
- Implement product and process quality metric reports.
- Implement sampling plans for quality control purposes.
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry guidelines and organization's policies.
- Establish SOPs and conditions for handling, storage and preservation of samples.
- Implement plans and strategies to support provision of safe food products.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, products or production lines to ensure food is prepared according to safety regulations and situational health sections.
- Investigate technical faults and practices that impact laboratory equipment operations.
- Lead quality and food safety related audits.
- Lead traceability investigations on the source of quality lapses and other product issues.
- Prepare corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) and gather documentations from other departments.
- Participate in quality management system reviews and promote quality and food safety policies to all personnel.
- Specify the protocols and laboratory infrastructure and equipment to be inspected and tested.
- Bachelor’s Degree holder in Food Science & Technology, or allied fields
- Ability to take in and work with complex and technical information
