About the role
Our client is seeking a talented Bookkeeper with experience in Australia-specific bookkeeping and accounting matters to join their team in a full-time, 100% work from home role. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing the financial records and accounts for a portfolio of interesting international clients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping across multiple entities.
What you'll be doing
The Bookkeeper plays a key role supporting a growing portfolio of clients with a range of end-to-end bookkeeping, payroll, reporting, tax and compliance responsibilities. Reporting to the Bookkeeping Team Lead and supported by a team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals, the Bookkeeper supports clients to achieve their business goals. As part of an experienced team, this role is ideal for an early career Accountant/Bookkeeper. Responsibilities include:
- Process AP, AR, bank reconciliations
- Prepare and process payroll for Australian employees
- Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements such as profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Manage payroll and associated tax obligations
- Assist with the preparation of business activity statements (BAS) and other tax-related filings
- Provide regular financial updates and reports to clients as necessary
- Collaborate with the wider Tax and Accounting team to streamline processes and implement best practices
- Stay up-to-date with changes in Australian accounting regulations and compliance requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field (CPA highly regarded but not essential)
- Xero certification highly regarded
- 3+ years of experience in Australian bookkeeping or accounting role (exposure to BAS/IAS, GST, PAYG, etc. highly regarded)
- Knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax laws, and bookkeeping best practices
- Proficient in Xero (and ideally, XPM) and other relevant accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
