Librarian for Junior High School

The Librarian for Junior High School provides reference, bibliographic, and research support to students, faculty members, and other library users while promoting library resources and services through displays, publications, social media, and other outreach initiatives.
It contributes to the development of reading lists, bibliographies, pathfinders, and other resource guides and assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating Educational Media Center programs and services. The position also prepares operational reports, supports the supervision of library personnel, and performs other duties necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the Educational Media Center (EMC).
Your responsibilities are as follows:
- Selects and recommends books for purchase to supplement the school’s curriculum needs.
- Keeps and maintains an accurate record of all books and library supplies.
- Keeps track of budgetary expenditures for the purchase of books and supplies in accordance with the approved budget.
- Classifies and catalogs all books and other print resources.
- Renders reference and bibliographic assistance to teachers and students.
- Promotes resources and services through bulletin board displays, exhibits, social media, and other means.
- Develops reading lists, bibliographies, webographies, and pathfinders.
- Determines the availability and current costs of instructional materials for acquisition or replacement.
- Contributes to the compilation and promotion of handbooks, guides, information booklets and other EMC publications.
- Prepares and submits written and/or oral reports and statistics to the EMC Coordinator and consults with him periodically on matters about the activities of her area.
- Supervises the annual inventory of books.
- Assists in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of EMC programs, resources, and services.
- Assists in the supervision and evaluation of the library staff.
- Performs other tasks that may be assigned to him/her pertinent to the smooth operation of the EMC and of the school.
- Preferably a Licensed or Registered Librarian (RL)
- If not licensed, must be a degree holder (Bachelor of Science in Library and Information Science) and is willing to take the exam 1-2 years from now
- With good work ethics
- Amenable to work onsite at Loyola/Katipunan campus
