The Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for employees, visitors, and contractors by collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify potential hazards, provide training, and recommend safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
In addition to that, the Safety Office shall establish and implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local laws and regulations.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture within the organization by organizing awareness campaigns and safety initiatives.

- Identify potential hazards through regular inspections and risk assessments of work areas, equipment, and processes.
- Analyze incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive actions.
- Conduct safety training for new employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring they are aware of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local and national safety regulations and industry standards.
- Stay updated laws and regulations and implement necessary adjustments to company policies.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and a identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with various departments to address id identified deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Assess the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its availability, proper usage, and maintenance.
- Reports safety incidences to superiors to intervene against actual or suspected threats and protect employee's safety and business continuity.
- Performs job related duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Hazards.
- Knowledge on Legal, Statutory and Regulatory requirements.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- At least 40 hours Occupational Health and Safety Training, OSH for SO II Certificate.
- Possess a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or any related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years' work experience as a Safety Officer II in a food related industry or in a field that offers opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in OSH.
