Occupational health & safety (oh&s) officer

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Any Bachelor of Science course
• 2-3 years of working experience in Environmental, Health and Safety
• DOLE Accredited Safety Officer is preferred
• Valid Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) License is preferred
• Can work with minimal supervision

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for ensuring TIIC’s compliance to Philippine Health and Occupational Safety Laws and Regulations, TIIC Health and Safety policies and other related industry standards / best management practices.
• Spearheads the development and implementation of OHS programs and activities that are designed to prevent occupational injury and illness in the workplace such as but not limited to PPE Management, Contractor Control, Equipment/ Tool Safety, Incident Escalation & Investigation, Risk Assessment, Transport Safety, Work Environment Monitoring (WEM), Material Handling, Fire Protection and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
• Ensures on-time processing/ submission of permitting and reportorial requirements set by DOLE and other relevant government agencies.
• Ensures effective investigation of all OHS-related workplace incidents through appropriate root cause analysis and the recommendation of corrective and preventive actions to ensure the non-recurrence of the incident.
• Conducts trainings and awareness to all employees on TIIC’s OHS-related policies/ programs and other related topics.
• Spearheads the conduct of monthly Health and Safety (H&S) Committee meetings and ensures active participation of all committee members as well as the timely closure of all action plans.
• Serve as TIIC’s liaison with government agencies, LGUs, NGOs and other stakeholder entities in matters related to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
• Ensures timely response and resolution of OHS related complaints or issues raised by employees and other stakeholders.
• Conducts periodic site audits/ inspection in order to verify the facility’s sustained compliance of its OHS programs and identify potentially unsafe conditions as well as opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluates the OHS hazard/ risk assessments submitted by process owners.
• Provides OHS-related technical support to all departments in order to control process-related hazards such as but not limited to engineering and administrative controls, PPE usage and etc.
• Keeps abreast with new or revised OHS regulations and latest available technologies relating to safety management.
• Supports the Pollution Control Officer (PCO) in ensuring TIIC’s compliance to local and international Environmental Management regulations.
