JOB PURPOSE
The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall management, performance, and growth of the assigned branch. The role ensures the achievement of operational and financial targets through effective leadership, portfolio management, team development, compliance, and implementation of company policies and procedures.
The Branch Manager is expected to maintain portfolio quality, drive borrower growth, manage collections, oversee branch operations, and develop a high-performing team while safeguarding company assets and ensuring regulatory and policy compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Branch Operations Management- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the branch.
- Ensure achievement of branch targets for borrower growth, portfolio quality, collections, and profitability.
- Monitor branch performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Safeguard company assets, funds, and resources.
- Maintain accurate operational records and ensure timely submission of reports.
- Review, validate, and approve loan applications within approved authority limits.
- Monitor portfolio quality and implement strategies to maintain low delinquency and bad debt levels.
- Ensure proper borrower screening, validation, and loan utilization monitoring.
- Support collection efforts and recovery activities for past due and delinquent accounts.
- Analyze branch portfolio performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement action plans to address portfolio at risk (PAR), delinquency, and collection concerns.
- Lead, coach, and develop Assistant Branch Managers and Loan Officers.
- Conduct regular field visits, performance reviews, and coaching sessions.
- Ensure staff productivity and adherence to company policies.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Identify training and development needs of branch personnel.
- Drive employee engagement and retention within the branch.
- Identify opportunities for market expansion and borrower acquisition.
- Conduct area assessments and recommend potential areas for branch growth.
- Support the development and execution of annual business plans.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, community leaders, and stakeholders.
- Develop strategies to increase branch outreach and customer acquisition.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and operational policies.
- Monitor branch transactions, cash handling procedures, and record-keeping practices.
- Report any suspected fraud, financial irregularities, policy violations, or operational risks.
- Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and compliance issues.
- Maintain branch readiness for internal and external audits.
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct within the branch.
- Manage branch facilities, permits, licenses, and operational requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of branch records and reports.
- Oversee branch communication and dissemination of company announcements, policies, and directives.
- Prepare and submit required operational and performance reports.
- Coordinate with Head Office and Division Management on branch requirements and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or any related field.
- At least three (3) years of experience in branch operations, lending, microfinance, banking, collections, sales management, or related financial services.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory or people management experience.
- Proven experience managing field-based teams and achieving operational or sales targets.
- Experience in collections, portfolio management, customer acquisition, or credit operations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
- Willing to conduct fieldwork and travel within the assigned area as required.
- Willing to be assigned to any branch or area based on business requirements.
- Experience in microfinance, lending, financing, rural banking, cooperatives, or financial services.
- Experience managing Loan Officers, Development Officers, Account Officers, or similar field personnel.
- Familiarity with group lending methodologies and community-based lending operations.
- Experience handling branch audits, compliance monitoring, or operational controls.
- Knowledge of portfolio at risk (PAR), collections management, and borrower retention strategies.
- Experience in business development and branch expansion initiatives.
