Accounts Payable Accountant

About the role

As an Accounts Payable Accountant, you will be responsible for processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our finance department and directly impacts the company's cash flow management and vendor relationships.

1. Processing and verifying vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness before payment authorization
2. Recording accounts payable transactions in the accounting system and maintaining detailed records
3. Reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies or disputes with suppliers
4. Preparing cheque and electronic payments to vendors in accordance with company policies and payment terms
5. Maintaining vendor files and documentation in an organized and accessible manner
6. Assisting with the monthly accounts payable reconciliation and month-end closing procedures
7. Following up on outstanding invoices and managing the approval workflow
8. Supporting audits by providing accurate documentation and explaining account transactions
9. Communicating with vendors regarding payment status, invoice queries and payment schedules
10. Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of accounts payable policies and procedures

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification
2. Proven experience in accounts payable operations, ideally in a similar role within a corporate environment
3. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
4. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies accurately
5. Solid understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable best practices
6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines efficiently
7. Professional communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders
8. Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
9. Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in the Philippines is advantageous
10. Relevant accounting certifications such as CPA or equivalent professional qualifications are preferred
