Job Information
Job Description- Main Propulsion: Directly responsible for the maintenance and operation of the main engine and its associated systems (fuel, lubrication, cooling).
- Personnel Management: Plans and assigns daily work schedules for the 3rd and 4th Engineers, Motormen, and Oilers. They ensure all engine room staff follow safety protocols.
- Emergency Equipment: Often specifically tasked with the maintenance of lifeboats, emergency generators, and fire pumps to ensure they are ready for immediate use.
- Safety & Environment: Ensures the engine room stays clean and compliant with MARPOL (pollution prevention). They supervise the treatment of oily water and sewage.
- Watchkeeping: Typically stands the 04:00–08:00 and 16:00–20:00 engine room watches, monitoring machinery performance and responding to alarms.
- Spare Parts & Inventory: Tracks the usage of engine parts and tools, notifying the Chief Engineer when supplies need to be ordered for upcoming repairs.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS 2ND ENGINEER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
