The ESL Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of ESL teachers or staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality English instruction and support. The role includes monitoring performance, providing coaching and mentorship, handling operational concerns, and ensuring that company standards and targets are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of ESL teachers or facilitators.
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics (e.g., class attendance, student satisfaction, lesson completion).
  • Conduct regular coaching, feedback sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new ESL teachers.
  • Handle class scheduling and address scheduling conflicts or issues.
  • Ensure teachers comply with curriculum guidelines, lesson standards, and teaching methodologies.
  • Address and escalate student complaints or concerns appropriately.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., QA, Admin, IT) for smooth operations.
  • Support implementation of new programs, teaching tools, or company policies.
  • Provide regular reports to upper management on team performance and challenges.
  • Foster a positive, motivating, and collaborative team culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or related field (preferred but not always required).
  • At least 1–2 years of ESL teaching experience; leadership experience is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace and familiar with ESL platforms/tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a remote/online ESL setup.
  • Familiarity with KPIs in ESL companies (e.g., lesson feedback, attendance, technical performance).
