Senior Platform Engineer (Kurbenetes/GCP) New

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join a team supporting one of the largest global independent studios, renowned for its cutting-edge AAA games and immersive experiences. This role involves building and managing highly scalable, cloud-native infrastructure while collaborating closely with engineering teams to drive DevOps excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for deploying microservices to Kubernetes clusters
• Act as a technical escalation point for platform-related issues
• Support infrastructure as code and GitOps practices across teams
• Monitor, enhance, and secure the Kubernetes ecosystem for performance and stability
• Promote platform engineering and DevOps best practices across the organization
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives
• Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain platform reliability
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for systems, processes, and services

Required Qualifications:

• Strong background in software development or site reliability engineering
• 4+ years of hands-on production experience with Kubernetes
• Demonstrated success in designing and delivering platform engineering solutions
• Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, containerd)
• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Strong scripting abilities (Python, Go, Bash)
• Hands-on experience with GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Build, Cloud Storage, and IAM
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring)
• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes security and secrets management
• Understanding of GitOps tools and workflows (Flux, ArgoCD)
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and cloud networking concepts
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with multi-cluster or hybrid-cloud Kubernetes deployments
• Kubernetes or GCP Professional certifications
• Familiarity with Kubernetes Operators and CRDs
• Knowledge of advanced Kubernetes components (custom schedulers, admission controllers)
• Exposure to game publishing infrastructure or high-performance computing workloads
• Experience managing databases in Kubernetes (StatefulSets, DB Operators)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-native CI/CD (Tekton)
• Contributions to open-source projects within the Kubernetes/cloud-native space
• Ability to work with globally distributed teams
• Experience with MLOps pipelines in Kubernetes environments
• Passion for online games or interest in space sci-fi is a plus
