Role Purpose
This is a combined role covering Clinical Applications, Training, and KOL Management. You will drive clinical adoption of Appasamy equipment by training users, supporting key opinion leaders, and ensuring doctors achieve optimal surgical and clinical outcomes with our technology.You are the bridge between our products and the Philippine ophthalmic community.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Applications & Training- Lead installations with hands-on user training for surgeons, nurses, and OT staff on phaco machines, microscopes, lasers, and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct in-service training, wet labs, and CMEs to improve clinical proficiency and confidence.
- Provide on-site OR support during initial cases and complex surgeries for key accounts.
- Develop local training materials, videos, and quick guides in English/Filipino for end-users.
- Troubleshoot application-related issues and differentiate between clinical vs technical problems.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in cataract, retina, glaucoma, and general ophthalmology.
- Coordinate KOL-led workshops, symposia, live surgery events, and peer-to-peer training programs.
- Support KOLs with clinical data, product evaluations, and scientific content for presentations.
- Gather clinical feedback from KOLs on product performance, usability, and feature requests for R&D.
- Manage KOL agreements, honoraria, and compliance with company and industry ethical codes.
- Partner with the sales team for product demos, exhibitions, and clinical evaluations.
- Provide clinical insights to position Appasamy products vs competitors during tenders and hospital presentations.
- Track adoption metrics, surgeon conversion rates, and clinical success stories to support marketing.
- Assist in launching new products with pre-market training and KOL seeding programs.
- Ensure all training and KOL activities comply with DOH, FDA Philippines, and AdvaMed ethical guidelines.
- Document all training sessions, KOL interactions, and case support in CRM.
- Submit monthly reports on training coverage, KOL engagement, and clinical feedback to management.
- Liaise with India clinical team for advanced training, case guidance, and product updates.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Optometry, Biomedical Engineering, or other allied health/engineering courses. OD, RN, or PRC license is an advantage.
Experience: 5–8 years as Clinical Applications Specialist, Product Specialist, or OR Nurse in ophthalmology. Prior KOL management or training role preferred.
Clinical: Strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures — phaco, vitrectomy, laser, diagnostics. OR experience is a major plus.Skills: Excellent presentation, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with surgeons confidently. Fluent in English and Filipino.
Other: Willing to travel 50–60% nationwide, including OR duty. Must have valid Philippine driver’s license and NBI clearance.
