Mechanical engineering technician (general)

Job Description

• Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boat mechanical systems and marine engines.
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline marine engines, propulsion systems, and related components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on fuel systems, cooling systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
• Perform engine testing, alignment, calibration, and sea trial support activities.
• Replace defective mechanical parts and perform engine overhauls when necessary.
• Ensure all repair and maintenance works comply with company safety standards and marine regulations.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians regarding repair schedules and technical concerns.
• Maintain proper use and condition of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities
• Prepare maintenance reports, service records, and repair documentation.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety within the work area and onboard vessels.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to junior technicians when required.

1. At least Technical/Vocational graduate in Mechanical Technology, Marine Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or related course.
2. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in marine mechanical repair or boat maintenance.
3. Experience in shipbuilding, yacht maintenance, or manufacturing industry is an advantage.
4. Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline marine engine systems.
5. Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, cooling, fuel, and transmission systems.
6. Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams and technical manuals.
7. Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and power tools.
8. Knowledge of workplace safety standards and marine safety procedures.
9. Physically fit and able to work in industrial and marine environments.
