Cadet Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)

Job Description:

• Conducts efficiently and on a timely basis the electrical, electronic and mechanical procedures for production start-up, including the set-up of start-up parameters, proper adjustment of the die-head, setting of heating and main screw parameters, setting of haul-off speed, setting of printer, etc.
• Assists in the operational set-up of production machinery & equipment, and in conducting basic maintenance checks daily, prior to and during, operation, e.g. check oil, filter, screws, wiring, etc.
• Conducts efficiently and on a timely basis the electrical, electronic and mechanical procedures for production shutdown, including the proper shutdown of the extruders and downstream equipment, flushing/ cleaning of the diehead, diehead disassembly, etc.
• Acquires working knowledge in order to become thoroughly familiar with the physical and inherent properties and product specifications of the division’s finished products (i.e. plastic compounds); Performs in-line inspection of all production output to monitor compliance with these properties and specifications.
• Must be 100% familiar with all aspects of the mechanical, electrical, electronic specifications and operation of all production line machines and equipment under his/ her responsibility.
• Ensures that all production line machinery and equipment are running at 95-98% efficiency.
• Conducts immediate troubleshooting and repairs/corrects minor mechanical, electrical or electronic problems that may arise during the course of the shift.
• Assists the Production Supervisor to check/ monitor that all standard operating procedures and work instructions are followed strictly by the production operators during production runs.
• Assists the Production Supervisor in coordinating closely and efficiently with the Technical Department for the proper quality testing of all production output.
• Assists the Production Supervisor in documenting in a comprehensive manner the performance and output of each running production line in the Daily Production Shift Report.
• Assists the Production Supervisor in providing technical guidance and supervision to machine operators in conducting the daily maintenance checklist activities of all production machinery & equipment .
• Conducts monitoring, maintenance, trouble-shooting and minor corrective repair/rescue of all production machinery & equipment, in accordance with established and standard maintenance tasks.
• Coordinates smoothly, efficiently and in a timely manner with Maintenance personnel for repair of major machinery & equipment malfunctions or breakdown during production operation, or for scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities on production machinery & equipment.
• Assists the Production Supervisor in seeking ways to analyze and improve production line systems and processes to further improve efficiency and output.
• Complies strictly with the company's Quality, Productivity and Health & Safety policies and programs.
• Complies strictly with the company’s house-keeping/ 5S program in the production & maintenance areas to ensure a clean, orderly, organized and safe working environment.
• Complies strictly with the company’s corporate policies and programs, especially with regard to corporate governance; internal business controls & security; and employee code of conduct.
• Complies strictly with all relevant government laws, executive orders and republic acts which impact production & maintenance activities.
• Complies strictly with the division’s ISO 9001 procedures, guidelines and work instructions.
• Ensures that all production tools/ equipment used are accounted for, in line with asset management procedures.

Administration:

• Overall responsible/accountable for all assets/ equipment assigned to him/ her.
• Brings to the Production Supervisor’s immediate attention any incident,
• issue, problem which requires higher management attention/resolution.
• Provides timely, accurate and comprehensive progress reports to the Production Supervisor as required.
• Assists the Production Supervisor to guide, instruct and oversee the activities of the machine operators.
• Attends all training sessions/courses as required and provides the appropriate feedback whether the training was useful, effective or not.
• Directly oversees the training/orientation of cadet engineers and recommends their appropriate positions/assignments after their training period based on their qualifications and performance.
• Participatesactively in all committees and task forces assigned.
• Performs other duties & responsibilities assigned.

Qualifications:

• College graduate from a reputable university in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Mechanical
• Must be a PRC licensed engineer
• At least two (2) years of direct work experience in production operations in an industrial manufacturing company as a plant engineer
• With working knowledge of ISO quality system
