Senior AU Tax Accountant
This is a remote position.
About the Role
We are a growing Brisbane-based accounting and advisory practice seeking an AU Tax Accountant who can genuinely hit the ground running. This is a fully remote, full-time position working directly with the Principal/Founder across a portfolio of Australian clients.
This is not a junior support role. We need someone with deep, hands-on experience in Australian tax and accounting who can operate confidently as a reviewer, communicate directly with clients, and reduce the Principal's workload from day one.
What we're really looking for — someone who is:
- Technically sharp — you know AU tax compliance cold, without needing to be guided
- A self-starter — you identify and resolve discrepancies before they become problems
- Client-confident — you communicate professionally and represent the practice with trust
- A reviewer, not just a doer — you QA your own work and others' before it goes upward

- Perform bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and accounts payable/receivable
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and financial records
- Identify and correct coding errors and system setup issues proactively
- Prepare and lodge Australian company tax returns end-to-end with minimal oversight
- Complete monthly reconciliations: BAS, PAYG, STP, payroll, and superannuation

- Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation for all tax filings
- Review accounting work for accuracy before submission to the Principal
- Act as a key reviewer in the doer–reviewer–approver workflow
- Proactively identify discrepancies and resolve issues early — not pass them upstream
- Communicate directly with clients to request documents and clarify information
- Participate in client meetings as a trusted team member
- Deliver clear, professional written and verbal communication at all times
- Assist the Principal and onshore team with higher-level accounting tasks
- Contribute to improving workflows, templates, and internal processes
