Job Title: Internal Accountant / Commercial Analyst
Location: Remote

Reporting to: Managing Director

Job Purpose: The Internal Accountant / Commercial Analyst will manage the internal financial operations of the accountancy firm while playing a key role in the commercial analysis of business performance. This individual will be responsible for reporting on the profitability of client jobs, team member performance, and other key metrics to support strategic decision-making.

This role will ensure the smooth running of the firm’s finances and contribute to business growth by providing valuable commercial insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Internal Accounting & Financial Management:

o Oversee day-to-day internal accounting, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and timely financial reporting.

o Manage the firm’s internal accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.

o Reconcile bank accounts and oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.

o Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

o Handle VAT returns.

o Monitor and manage the firm’s cash flow and working capital.
  1. Profitability & Commercial Reporting:

o Analyse profitability of jobs, clients, and team members, providing detailed reports to senior management.

o Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements within the firm’s operations.

o Develop financial performance metrics to track and improve job efficiency and team productivity.

o Provide insightful analysis to support pricing decisions and client proposals.
  1. Business Partnering:

o Work closely with the Managing Director to provide financial insights and recommendations for business growth.

o Assist with strategic decision-making by developing models to evaluate new business opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost structures.

o Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment of financial objectives with overall business strategy.
  1. System Management & Improvement:

o Maintain and improve the firm’s financial systems, including Xero and other software.

o Implement and optimise internal financial processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

o Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations (UK GAAP, HMRC).
  1. Team Involvement:

o Act as a financial liaison for the team, providing guidance on job performance and commercial decision-making.

o Contribute to team meetings, providing financial updates and commercial insights.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in an internal accounting role, preferably within an accountancy or professional services firm.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of providing financial analysis and reporting on profitability.
  • Experience with accounting software, ideally Xero.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Setup: Hybrid

Work Schedule: Dayshift

From April to September: 7:00am to 4:00pm Manila Time (including a 1-hour lunch break)

From October to March: 8:00am to 5:00pm Manila Time (including a 1-hour lunch break)
