Cloud Data Engineer
We are seeking a Cloud Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our cloud-based data infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and cloud architecture, requiring a candidate who can build robust ETL pipelines while ensuring the underlying AWS environment is secure, scalable, and high-performing.
Core Responsibilities- Infrastructure & Application Management: Install, configure, and maintain cloud-based applications and systems. You will oversee the integration of web and cloud services to ensure a seamless data flow.
- Data Pipeline Engineering: Translate complex business requirements into clean, maintainable code. You will manage the full lifecycle of data projects, from initial specification to documentation and deployment.
- System Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and resolve errors to ensure 99.9% availability of data services.
- Strategic Consulting: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop cloud solutions that meet specific product needs, ensuring every solution is robust and efficient.
- Innovation: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) and evaluate their potential impact on our operational efficiency.
Technical Requirements
The "Must-Haves" (Non-Negotiable):
- AWS Ecosystem: Deep expertise in AWS Glue, EMR, and general AWS cloud administration.
- Orchestration & Tooling: Proficient in Apache Airflow for workflow management.
- Programming: Strong Python skills for automation and data manipulation.
- Data Processing: Proven experience building and managing ETL pipelines.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Cloud Architecture: A thorough understanding of how discrete infrastructure components (compute, storage, network) work together to provide a secure hosting environment.
- Networking & Security: Knowledge of distributed messaging, VPNs, TCP/IP, firewalls, and public key cryptography.
- DevOps Mindset: Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD and automated monitoring.
- Embedded Systems: A solid understanding of connected embedded systems, including tradeoffs and protocols.
- Experience working within large-scale infrastructure hosting environments.
- Vast understanding of cloud services and solutions (specifically AWS or Azure).
- Comprehensive grasp of IT security best practices and proactive threat protection.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical specifications for non-technical business partners.
