Background
We are a successful family-owned company based in Makati that has been operating for about 40 years. We are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing the delivery of raw materials, spare parts, components, equipment, and services from local and international suppliers.
One major procurement item in our business is cold rolled steel coils (or CRC) which are sourced in hundred-tonne plus shipments from China, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and other regions well known for steel supply. A key part of this role is to prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to canvass and review suppliers to compare prices, quality, commercial terms, delivery terms, and timing to ensure the Company has access to the most competitive suppliers available in the market.
You will also be involved in developing and implementing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency.
Key Skills
Must have a good knowledge of best practice procurement processes, carrying out internet-based market research, and sourcing suppliers to ensure that local and international suppliers are considered.
This role requires strong analytical skills to make sure that purchasing decisions and made from the most cost-effective and competitive suppliers.
Create and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time.
When suppliers do not deliver and supply as expected then representations and negotiations must take place with suppliers to rectify the situation and seek compensation for the Company where appropriate.
The working environment can be high pressure, especially when dealing with urgent items and preventing inventory shortages so managing delivery time frames is key to succeed in this role.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, supply chain management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, preferably in the metal manufacturing industry
- A proven track record of achieving cost savings, quality improvements, and managing performance of suppliers
- A solid understanding of procurement best practices, contract management, and risk management
- A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and online sourcing tools
- A self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented attitude, with the ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
- A collaborative, flexible, and customer-focused approach, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
