Position Summary:

The role demands deep technical knowledge and hands-on expertise with flash-butt welding machines and related processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and control flash-butt welding equipment to produce high-quality, defect-free welds on rails.
• Precisely align rail ends and prepare them for welding, including cleaning, machining, and inspection.
• Adjust welding parameters such as current, voltage, time, and pressure to optimize weld strength and consistency.
• Conduct thorough inspection of welded joints using visual and nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot welding machine malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain detailed weld logs and quality documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to improve welding procedures and resolve weld defects.
• Train and mentor junior welders and operators on flash-butt welding best practices and safety protocols.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations on-site.

• Extensive experience (typically 3+ years) in flash-butt welding of rails or similar heavy welding operations.
• In-depth understanding of resistance welding principles and flash-butt welding technology.
• Skilled in nondestructive testing methods (e.g., ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection).
• Ability to read and interpret welding specifications, rail drawings, and technical manuals.
• Strong mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintaining welding equipment.
