Quality Engineer – Material Compliance

We are looking for a Quality Engineer – Material Compliance to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements related to product material content and environmental regulations. This role plays a key part in maintaining and improving material compliance processes, supporting customer requirements, and ensuring alignment with Quality Management System standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and third-party laboratories to maintain accurate compliance data, support audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Material Compliance Management- Review products and evaluate compliance with applicable material regulations and customer-specific requirements.
- Respond to customer inquiries related to material compliance and hazardous substance management.
- Manage and support activities related to RoHS, REACH, Halogen-Free (HF) and other applicable environmental requirements.
- Prepare and provide customer documentation such as:
- Full Material Disclosure (FMD)
- Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT)
- Customer-required compliance reports and declarations
- Laboratory test reports
- Upload and maintain compliance information within environmental compliance databases and resolve related technical issues.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather and validate material compliance information and product data.
- Arrange and manage third-party laboratory testing to ensure valid and current compliance reports.
- Perform XRF testing when required to support material verification and customer requests.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
- ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System
- IECQ QC 080000 Hazardous Substances Process Management (HSPM)
- Review procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and management system requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, process audits, customer audits, and supplier assessments.
- Support process improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct training and awareness programs related to material compliance and hazardous substance management requirements.
- Work with manufacturing, quality, engineering, purchasing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure effective compliance implementation.
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
- Chemical Engineering background is highly preferred.
- Experience in product material compliance, regulatory compliance, or quality systems is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in process improvement and manufacturing systems enhancement.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, or environmental regulatory requirements within a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of:
- RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
- REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)
- Halogen-Free requirements
- IECQ QC 080000 Hazardous Substances Process Management (HSPM)
- Familiarity with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and compliance standards.
- Qualified Auditor or auditing experience related to:
- - ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- Experience in management systems auditing and compliance assessment.
- Project management and training facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
