Senior Tax Accountant – Australia (fully remote role)

Job Description:

We are seeking experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who want to develop their skills and take on a broad range of tax and accounting responsibilities.

As an Senior Tax Accountant, your role will include:

• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, family trusts, private companies, partnerships and SMSFs, ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations.
• Prepare annual and interim when required financial statements for family trusts, private companies, partnerships and SMSFs, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and filed on time.
• Assist clients with Bookkeeping services
• Preparation and filing of Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and ensure compliance with other tax obligations including GST, PAYG, and other state or federal taxes.
• Provide tax advice to clients, assist with tax planning strategies, and ensure the most effective and efficient tax outcomes for clients.
• Liaise directly with clients, the ATO, ASIC, and State Revenue Offices to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns, financial statements, and other regulatory documents.
• Take ownership of preparing and submitting income tax returns, financial statements, and BAS. Ensure compliance with tax laws and reporting standards, identify tax-saving opportunities, and meet deadlines. Communicate with clients and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and minimizing audit risks while maintaining high-quality standards in all filings.
• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and industry standards.
• Prepare clients’ invoices and follow up debtors when required.
• Access and update client details and reports from the Tax Agent Portal.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with HandiTax is preferred not mandatory.
• At least 2 year of experience in public practice accounting with a focus on Australian taxation.
• Strong experience in preparing Australian individual, company, and trust tax returns, as well as SMSF tax returns.
• Familiarity with tax and accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, HandiTax, or SuperMate.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, understand their needs, and provide tailored tax advice.
• A keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all aspects of the work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly when dealing with clients and regulatory bodies.
