Hr generalist

About the role

As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for overseeing a broad spectrum of human resources activities, from recruitment and employee relations to training and development. This role is central to ensuring our company maintains a positive workplace culture, complies with employment regulations, and attracts and retains top talent to support our business objectives.

1. Managing the full recruitment cycle, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees
2. Providing advice and support on employment relations matters, addressing employee concerns and grievances in a timely and professional manner
3. Administering payroll, benefits and compensation programmes to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
4. Developing and delivering training and development programmes to enhance employee skills and support career progression
5. Maintaining accurate personnel records and ensuring compliance with data protection and employment legislation
6. Coordinating performance management processes and supporting managers in conducting appraisals and setting objectives
7. Creating and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with company values and legal requirements
8. Supporting employee engagement initiatives and fostering a positive workplace culture
9. Assisting with workforce planning and analysis to support strategic business decisions
10. Acting as a point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and management

1. A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in an HR generalist or similar HR role within a commercial or retail environment
2. Strong knowledge of employment law, labour regulations and HR best practices
3. Proficiency in HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation
5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
6. Experience in recruitment and talent acquisition processes
7. Knowledge of payroll administration and benefits management
8. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
9. A collaborative approach to problem-solving with strong analytical capabilities
10. Certification in Human Resources (such as CHRP, CIPD or equivalent) is preferred but not essential
