The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and production equipment within the plant. The role ensures high equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency while maintaining strict compliance with safety, quality, and food manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery
Maintain and service:
Pumps, compressors, conveyorsGearboxes, valves, and piping systems
Processing and packaging equipment
Execute maintenance activities aligned with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)- Troubleshooting & Repairs
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production disruption
Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions
- Installation & Fabrication
Perform basic fabrication, welding, and fitting tasks as required
Modify or improve machine parts to enhance performance
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
Follow strict adherence to:
Occupational health and safety proceduresNestlé Quality Management Systems
Food safety standards (GMP, HACCP)
Ensure all work complies with Nestlé engineering standards and local regulations- Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve:
Equipment reliabilityMaintenance efficiency
Energy and material usage
Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives- Documentation & Reporting
Update work orders, checklists, and maintenance logs
Report recurring issues and recommend improvements
Technical Skills
Knowledge of:
Mechanical systems and industrial equipmentPneumatics and hydraulics
Preventive maintenance techniques
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematicsBasic welding and fabrication skills preferred

Qualifications/Requirements
QualificationsEducation
Technical diploma or vocational certification in:
Mechanical Engineering TechnologyIndustrial Technology
Related field
Experience
At least 1–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing settingExperience in FMCG or food manufacturing is an advantage
