The Facilities Engineer Coordinator ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of all hospital buildings, equipment, and physical infrastructure. This role supports critical clinical and non‑clinical areas by coordinating maintenance activities, managing contractors, overseeing work orders, and ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Facilities Operations & Maintenance
- Coordinate and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities for hospital facilities, utilities, and equipment.
- Manage daily facility operations—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety systems, medical air and vacuum systems, elevators, and building systems.
- Track and update maintenance logs and ensure all work complies with hospital policies and DOH / local regulatory standards.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking preventive maintenance calendars.
- Respond promptly to urgent repair issues affecting clinical operations.
- Work Order Management
- Receive, document, and prioritize work orders from hospital departments.
- Assign tasks to internal technicians or external vendors and monitor completion.
- Ensure timely resolution of facilities-related concerns to minimize disruption to patient care.
- Maintain digital or manual records of all work orders and service reports.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all facilities operations comply with hospital standards, DOH requirements, Fire Code, local government mandates, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and maintenance for fire alarm systems, generators, emergency lighting, and life‑safety equipment.
- Support Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, including emergency preparedness, infection control protocols, and sanitation.
- Vendor and Contractor Coordination
- Act as primary point of contact for contractors performing repairs, construction, or maintenance work.
- Verify that contractors follow hospital safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and permit-to-work requirements.
- Review service reports and assist in evaluating vendor performance.
- Monitor compliance with contract terms and service‑level agreements.
- Asset and Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, spare parts, and consumables.
- Assist in asset tagging, equipment tracking, and documentation of facility-related equipment.
- Coordinate procurement requests and ensure timely replenishment of stocks.
- Space, Layout, and Project Support
- Assist with space planning, renovations, and small-scale construction projects.
- Support department relocations, room setups, and facility modifications.
- Ensure project activities follow safety, infection control, and operational continuity requirements.
- Administrative & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly facilities reports.
- Maintain documentation for audits, accreditation, and compliance checks.
- Support budgeting activities by monitoring expenses related to maintenance and repairs.
- Manage permits, licenses, and certificates associated with facility operations.
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
- Vocational/technical graduates with relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 2–3 years experience in facilities or maintenance coordination, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with hospital systems (e.g., medical gas, fire safety, nurse call systems) is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and facility operations
