Impex customer service representative
About the role
RVS Cargo Services Inc. is seeking an experienced IMPEX Customer Service Representative to join our dynamic team in Binondo, Manila City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our freight and cargo forwarding operations.As an IMPEX Customer Service Representative, you will be the primary point of contact for our clients, managing import and export queries whilst ensuring seamless coordination between customers, logistics partners and internal teams. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the freight forwarding industry and directly impacts customer satisfaction and retention.
Key responsibilities- Handle inbound and outbound customer enquiries regarding import and export shipments with professionalism and accuracy
- Process and manage import/export documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, invoices and packing lists
- Coordinate with freight forwarding agents, customs brokers and shipping lines to ensure timely clearance and delivery of cargo
- Monitor shipment status and provide regular updates to customers regarding their consignments
- Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly, escalating complex matters to management when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions, communications and shipment details in our system
- Provide quotations for freight services based on customer requirements and route specifications
- Support the sales team in acquiring new business and maintaining existing client relationships
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and company procedures
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies for customs and port-related matters
- Proven experience in customer service within the freight forwarding, logistics or shipping industry (minimum 2-3 years)
- Strong knowledge of import/export procedures, customs regulations and documentation requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous
- Proficiency in freight forwarding software systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple shipments simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Professional demeanour with a customer-centric approach
- Knowledge of major shipping routes, ports and carrier services is preferred
- Certification in customs brokerage or freight forwarding would be beneficial
