Field Engineer / Technician

JOB PURPOSE

The Project Technician is responsible to troubleshoot and restore connectivity and to implement all projects within agreed SLA, acceptable quality standards and meet required specifications.

1. Fiber optic network troubleshooting and restoration
2. Fiber cable preparation and fiber optic splicing using fusion splicer or mechanical splicer.
3. Testing, troubleshooting and performance analysis using tools like OTDR, VFL, Fiber identifier and the likes.
4. Maintenance & repair; fix damaged fiber lines and restore connectivity within SLA.
5. Documentation such as splice data record, test results, and network layout
6. Installs fiber node, trunk amplifier, distribution amplifier, feeder and cables for OSP projects as applicable.
7. Splices cable with optical equipment, amplifiers, taps, couplers and splitters as applicable.
8. Installs power supplies as applicable.
9. Activates and aligns amplifiers as applicable.
10. Performs splicing/ activation of additional lines, plant revisions project on existing facilities to further improve quality of service to customers.
11. Performs testing of plant parameters including end of line reading in projects implemented by contractors.
12. Performs physical survey of line cables such as span sag and damaged cable and cable clearance to the other pole users as needed
13. Ensures attendance on regular meetings, trainings and company related activities.
14. Reports all critical incidents encountered in the field.
15. Performs sweeping and troubleshooting as needed.
16. Ensures all implemented projects are built within acceptable quality standards and meet required specifications.
17. Performs physical survey of plant network including electronics status from any discrepancies that are out of normalcy.
18. Prepares material utilization report based on actual inspection and as-built checking / performs materials’ audit.
19. Submits daily accomplishment report as necessary.
20. Withdraws the necessary materials as required by the assigned tasks in the schedule.
21. Practices utmost safety and precaution in the performance of his duties and work activities.
22. Monitors assigned vehicle condition, prepares necessary reports and notify his superiors any related incidents resulting to damages/ malfunctions to the operation of the vehicle.
23. Performs Node/Hub Set Up
24. Performs Fiber Preparation and Interconnection
25. Submits as built maps (In Bldg & OSP – coax/fiber)
26. Performs Testing and Commissioning for FTTH projects
27. Performs Pre-Construction Survey
28. Layout of fiber & coax cables – riser, distribution, feeder and drop cables for OSP and MDU projects.
29. Performs splicing/ activation of OSP lines for plant revisions/rehab projects on existing facilities to further improve quality of service to customers.
30. Ensures minimal signal interruption in MDU network interconnection (fiber or coax)
31. Performs physical survey of MDU projects – IN BLDG & OSP
32. Performs physical survey of plant electronics status from any discrepancies that are out of normalcy.
33. Performs physical survey of conduit / cable routes prior to MDU cable construction.
34. Prepares PR (Purchase Request) for MDU Materials
35. Performs physical survey of plant strand, poles, and route
36. Performs application of RTA as specified in JPA

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Graduate of BSECE or other Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Experience

At least 3 years of relevant experience in Fiber cable network, GPON / EPON network, Hybrid-Fiber coaxial network, OSP and In-building Construction and Project implementation

• Team player, with good interpersonal skills and highly motivated
• Customer oriented, unafraid of heights and with a good eyesight and sense of color differentiation (not color blind)
• Adept in driving motor vehicle and has a valid professional driver’s license (at least 2 in restriction)
