Pollution Control & Safety Officer

Job Summary:

Responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and facility-related regulations. Oversees pollution control programs, workplace safety, and regulatory permits, and serves as the company liaison with government agencies such as DENR, PEZA, BFP, DOLE, and LGU.

Key Responsibilities:

Pollution Control & Environmental Compliance:

• Implement and monitor pollution control programs in compliance with DENR and LGU regulations.
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports (e.g., SMR, CEMS, PCO reports).
• Monitor and ensure proper waste segregation, storage, treatment, and disposal.
• Coordinate with accredited haulers and environmental service providers.
• Oversee the proper operation of wastewater treatment and air pollution control systems.

Occupational Safety & Health:

• Enforce workplace health and safety policies in compliance with DOLE and OSH standards.
• Conduct safety orientation, inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
• Monitor use of PPE and ensure safe working conditions across all areas of the plant.
• Lead safety drills, toolbox meetings, and training programs.

Facilities & Regulatory Compliance:

• Oversee the maintenance and compliance of plant facilities and equipment.
• Handle applications, renewals, and updates of permits such as:

1. Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC)
2. PEZA Environmental Permits
3. Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (BFP)
4. DOLE Safety Reports
5. Other LGU-related business permits

• Coordinate with government agencies during inspections, audits, or emergency responses.
• Maintain records and documentation for compliance audits and internal reviews.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
• Must be a Certified Pollution Control Officer and ideally a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer (SO2 or SO3).
• At least 2-3 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or plastic industry.
• Knowledgeable in environmental laws (RA 11058, 8749, RA 9003, RA 9275), PEZA guidelines, and BFP/DOLE regulations.
• Strong organizational, reporting, and communication skills.
• Able to coordinate with government agencies and manage multiple compliance deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and documentation.
