Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Assistant / Accountant to join our growing team. This is a full-time, office-based role in Cagayan de Oro, working directly for one of our Australian clients. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting, specifically with Australian tax practices, BAS preparation, and financial reporting.

Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities and Tasks – Finance Assistant / Accountant –

Including but not limited to:

  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST reports, and tax-related documentation in compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) standards
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including transaction entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining general ledgers
  • Process payroll, accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity across platforms like Xero, QuickBooks, or MYOB
  • Assist with superannuation calculations and compliance reporting
  • Collaborate with the client's internal finance team to ensure seamless financial operations
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support, especially around finance documentation and communication
  • Ensure strict adherence to privacy, compliance, and internal procedures
Job Requirements – Finance Assistant / Accountant
  • Minimum 1+ year experience in accounting, with exposure to Australian bookkeeping and taxation practices (Required)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (Required)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
  • Familiarity with Australian financial compliance, GST, and superannuation
  • Ability to work independently and manage financial workflows with minimal supervision
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience working with Australian clients or companies
  • Knowledge of ATO compliance, payroll legislation, and financial reporting standards
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets knowledge
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Meets)
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini for streamlining finance tasks
  • Exposure to tools like HubSpot, Zoho, or other CRMs (desirable)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for reporting and team collaboration
