About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant with over 2 years’ experience to join our finance team. This is a full-time role, supporting an Australian multi-location medical business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with statutory requirements. The role requires hands-on experience with payroll, Australian BAS preparation, bank reconciliations, reporting, and MYOB, ideally within a medical or healthcare environment operating across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities- Process end-to-end payroll using HumanForce for a multi-site medical business, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and lodge BAS, including GST, PAYG, and superannuation obligations
- Perform bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts and locations
- Assist with monthly and periodic financial reporting, including site-level and consolidated reports
- Maintain accurate general ledger records within MYOB and Xero
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including practitioner and supplier payments
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, healthcare-related regulations, and internal controls
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, external accountants, auditors, and the ATO as required
- Overdue accounts follow-up
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting role
- Degree Qualification preferably in Commerce or Accounting
- Great if you have started the journey to CPA
- Demonstrated experience using MYOB and Xero accounting functions
- Experience working within a multi-location business, preferably in medical or healthcare
- Hands-on experience with payroll, BAS, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (completed or near completion)
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting and taxation requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with high attention to detail
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
