About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer with strong COBOL Mainframe expertise to support and maintain critical business applications running in a mainframe environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating production issues, performing root cause analysis, ensuring system stability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver timely resolutions and continuous improvements.

This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can independently manage support activities while contributing to team discussions and technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve application incidents and production issues in a mainframe environment.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues before they impact business operations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support batch processing activities and ensure successful execution of scheduled jobs.
  • Analyze logs, system outputs, and application behavior to diagnose complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure application stability and performance.
  • Document troubleshooting procedures, findings, and solutions for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Participate actively in team discussions and contribute to process and system improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on COBOL Mainframe applications and related technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL Mainframe application support.
  • Solid understanding of mainframe environments and batch processing operations.
  • Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex application issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple support activities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IBM Db2.
  • Experience with IBM Information Management System (IMS) Database.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise applications in a production environment.
