  1. Participates in the development and update of guidance and counseling policies, procedures, programs, projects, activities, and services.
  2. Assists in the administration of entrance examinations for applications for admission; conducts interviews with applications for admission as requested for special cases, and prepares recommendations on decision action.
  3. Attends to referred, call-in, or walk-in students requesting guidance and counseling sessions; conducts individual and group counseling sessions with students in the areas of personality, career, interest, aptitude, mental ability, achievement, etc. in the context of developmental, preventive, or remedial approaches to help them achieve their academic and personal development goals.
  4. Conduct routine, in-depth, and follow-up interviews with students with specific concerns as referred by the school administrators and faculty members; conducts follow-up studies on cases of clients and student protocols and undertakes further referrals to other professional counseling practitioners as may be necessary.
  5. Prepares psychological reports, case studies, and profiles of individual students.
  6. Interprets psychological test results to students, school administrators, faculty members, and parents or guardians.
  7. Conducts case conferences and training programs for the administrators, faculty members, homeroom advisers, parent / guardians, and other significant partners to generate their cooperation in the provision of guidance and counseling services to students and in the development and implementation of further interventions.
  8. Collects and maintains personal, social, academic, and vocational preference information about each student through the use of questionnaires, surveys, and anecdotal records and maintains these in their individual guidance summary files to serve as bases for guidance and counseling interventions.
  9. Coordinates with the administrators and faculty members in designing and conducting research studies to determine students’ profiles as well as their needs and concerns, and to assess the effectiveness of the existing guidance programs.
  10. Develops, maintains and updates consolidated demographic and sociological profiles of students from profiles derived from testing and guidance intervention.
  11. Extends corollary guidance and counseling services to parents / guardians of students and to employees of the institution on the clients’ request.
  12. Coordinates with the psychometrician in planning and implementing the testing program comprising of the annual tests and entrance and placement examinations for students.
  13. Assists the Psychomentrician in constructing local norms for acquired tests and diagnostic instruments developed in other countries.
  14. Plans and implements special programs such as career counseling, activities of peer facilitators, leadership programs, etc.; develops and implements personality enhancement and personal growth programs and other group dynamics activities and learning sessions for students and faculty members.
  15. Prepares homeroom guidance modules and monitors their implementation by the homeroom advisers at the elementary and high school levels.
  16. Disseminates guidance-related information through bulletin board postings, newsletters, and other reading materials as well as during conferences with parents and faculty members.
  17. Participates / assists in the implementation of curricular, co-curricular, and special projects, activities, and programs of the academic units.
  18. Identifies and provides appropriate references materials that may provide further aid to the students and undertakes the necessary referrals to external source.
  19. Evaluate guidance and counseling programs and activities extended to students and undertakes revision and updating of programs and activities as may be warranted.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • holder of a Bachelor’s degree in either psychology, guidance and counseling, or education (major in guidance and counseling); MA units in guidance and counseling/counseling psychology and/or license in guidance and counseling is an advantage.
  • preferably with at least 1 year of related experience in counseling;
  • knowledgeable in preparing guidance related activities, programs, modules, and reports;
  • possess the ability to work with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and the community;
  • with good moral character;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
