Job Summary
The Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining customer vehicles in accordance with VinFast standards and manufacturer repair procedures. The role ensures quality workmanship, safety, and timely completion of repairs while delivering excellent customer satisfaction.The technician is also expected to continuously develop technical competencies, particularly in electric vehicle (EV) systems and emerging automotive technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair- Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs in accordance with VinFast service procedures.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, and EV-related concerns using approved diagnostic equipment.
- Perform repairs on vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, steering, HVAC, drivetrain, electrical, battery systems, and other components.
- Conduct software updates and system calibrations when required.
- Accurately identify the root cause of vehicle concerns and recommend necessary repairs.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services based on manufacturer recommendations.
- Inspect vehicle components for wear and potential failure.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform quality checks after repairs to ensure vehicles are functioning properly.
- Conduct road tests when necessary and authorized.
- Minimize repeat repairs (comebacks) through accurate diagnosis and quality workmanship.
- Ensure all repair work complies with VinFast technical standards.
- Record diagnostic findings, repair procedures, labor time, and parts used on repair orders.
- Report additional repair requirements to the Service Advisor before proceeding.
- Complete repair documentation accurately and promptly using the Dealer Management System (DMS).
- Follow all dealership safety policies and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialized tools.
- Handle electric vehicle high-voltage systems in accordance with manufacturer safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors, Job Controllers, and Parts personnel to ensure efficient repair operations.
- Assist in mentoring junior technicians when assigned.
- Participate in technical meetings, manufacturer training, and continuous skills development programs.
- Graduate of Automotive Technology, Automotive Servicing, or a related technical/vocational course.
- TESDA National Certificate II (NC II) in Automotive Servicing is preferred; additional certifications are an advantage.
- At least one (1) year of experience as an Automotive Technician; dealership experience is preferred.
- Experience with electric vehicles (EVs) or willingness to undergo VinFast EV technical certification.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostic equipment and repair procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
- Valid Professional Driver's License (Restriction Code B/B1/B2 or equivalent).
