About the role
LEC Steel Manufacturing Corp. is seeking a Purchasing Officer to join our dynamic team in Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in supporting our manufacturing operations through effective procurement and inventory management.As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of materials and services essential to our steel manufacturing operations. This position is integral to maintaining supply chain efficiency, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
What you'll be doing- Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors for materials and services required in steel manufacturing operations
- Negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure the most competitive rates whilst maintaining quality standards
- Processing purchase orders and maintaining accurate procurement documentation and records
- Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with production and warehouse teams to ensure adequate stock availability
- Liaising with internal departments to understand material requirements and forecasting demand
- Conducting regular supplier performance reviews and managing supplier relationships
- Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
- Resolving supply chain issues and managing expediting of urgent orders when necessary
- Maintaining and updating supplier databases and procurement records
- Analysing purchasing data and preparing reports on procurement costs and vendor performance
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management, preferably in manufacturing or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and inventory control systems
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and maintain supplier relationships
- Proficiency in using procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret purchasing data and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Knowledge of steel industry materials and manufacturing processes is advantageous
- A relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain management, business administration, or related field is preferred
