Know Your Accounts is a boutique financial services firm specialising in high-level bookkeeping and financial accounting for Australian small-to-medium businesses. We pride ourselves on building genuine relationships, delivering accurate and insightful reporting, and improving business owners' financial literacy — all while working collaboratively with their accountants.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper or Accountant to join our remote team, with the opportunity to step into a Team Lead role.

About the Role

You will manage day-to-day and month-end bookkeeping tasks across multiple businesses using Xero, with the opportunity to grow into a Team Lead position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily financial management and data entry in Xero
  • Entering bills and receipts, processing supplier payments
  • Payroll processing including superannuation compliance
  • Bank reconciliations (AU & international)
  • Month/quarter-end close: journals, accruals, ledger adjustments
  • BAS, SGC, and ATO Integrated Client Account reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany loans
  • Preparing management reports and business insights
  • Working with cloud-based apps such as HubDoc

About You

We’re looking for someone dependable, detail-focused, and curious — with a passion for solving problems and supporting business success.

To be successful, you will have:

  • 2-4 years of Australian bookkeeping/accounting experience (essential)
  • 4+ years overall experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
  • Experience with Xero and HubDoc (essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • Strong time management and initiative
  • Previous team leadership experience is an advantage
  • Willingness to work Australian hours
Technical Requirements (Preferred)
  • Laptop (can be provided)
  • Home office setup with double monitor
  • 20+ Mbps internet (with backup)
  • Noise-cancelling headset
