Job Title: Bookkeeper / Accountant (Xero - SimPRO Specialist) - Australia Role
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant with strong Xero & SimPRO experience to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial management, job costing integrity, and real-time visibility across our operations.
You will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy across General Ledger, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and Work in Progress (WIP), while supporting business decision-making through timely and reliable reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions
- Payroll, IAS, Super, BAS, State Payroll Tax and contractor payments
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero integrated with SimPRO
- Oversee and reconcile General Ledger accounts
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Monitor, manage, and reconcile Work in Progress (WIP) across all jobs/projects
- Perform job costing analysis and ensure alignment between SimPRO and accounting systems
- Complete bank, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure financial data reflects real-time job status
- Identify discrepancies and implement process improvements
- Prepare financial reports, including P&L, cash flow, and variance analysis
- Proven experience using Xero & SimPRO
- Strong understanding of:
- COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)
- WIP (Work in Progress)
- Job costing and project accounting
- Excel Superstar
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting in Australia
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Outstanding English communication skills (written and verbal) are essential
- Ability to clearly communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Strong documentation and reporting capabilities
- Must be able to work in the NSW Australia time zone and align with the public holidays
- Experience in trade, solar, construction, or service-based industries – WIP – COGS & monthly reporting
- Process improvement and system optimisation experience
