Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience- 3-5 years of experience in a Test Automation Engineer or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role
- Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch using Playwright or Selenium
- Solid understanding of web application architectures, including front-end and back-end components
- Experience coaching or mentoring testers in automation practices
- Experience working in a SaaS product environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with compliance, HR technology, or screening industry domains (preferred but not required)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency in Playwright, with working knowledge of Cypress or Selenium
- Strong TypeScript or JavaScript programming skills
- Python experience is an advantage
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
- Hands-on experience with REST API testing and automation
- Proficiency in Git workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
- Experience using test case management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Zephyr
- Comfortable working within Agile delivery teams and participating in sprint ceremonies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to facilitate workshops, collaborate with testers, and produce technical documentation
Responsibilities
Automation Suite Design and Delivery- Architect and build a Playwright-based automated testing framework for compliance platform products
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for regression, smoke, integration, and API testing scenarios
- Establish reusable page object models, test data strategies, and environment configuration patterns
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing on every build
- Define and implement test reporting and dashboard solutions to improve visibility into test health and coverage
- Design and deliver structured training programs covering Playwright, TypeScript fundamentals, and automation best practices
- Conduct pair-programming sessions and code reviews to strengthen team capability and confidence
- Create framework documentation, contribution standards, onboarding guides, and technical resources
- Transition automation suite ownership to the QA team and ensure long-term sustainability
- Collaborate with development teams to identify testability gaps and promote quality-by-design principles
- Establish test coverage targets and support the team in achieving and maintaining them
- Contribute to defect triage activities and provide testing insights to support engineering decisions
- Recommend and implement improvements to manual testing processes through automation initiatives
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
- Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to engineering leadership and stakeholders
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align automation priorities with product roadmap objectives
