As a Payment & Billing Systems Engineer, you will architect and manage end-to-end payment and billing systems-ensuring every transaction, subscription, and reconciliation process runs accurately and reliably at scale. You'll own critical infrastructure that directly impacts revenue flow and user experience.

• 3+ years of experience building payment or billing systems in production
• Proven hands-on experience designing and deploying end-to-end payment systems processing real user transactions
• Mandatory experience with Authorize.net (Accept Suite, AIM, ARB, CIM, or Transaction Reporting APIs)

• Deep understanding of subscription state machines, including edge cases (webhook race conditions, partial failures, duplicate events, expired cards, processor retries)
• Experience with financial reconciliation: ledger patterns, balance verification, audit logging, and discrepancy resolution
• Strong knowledge of payment workflows, including refunds, chargebacks, and billing lifecycle management

• Strong backend development skills in Node.js or TypeScript
• Experience with asynchronous job processing for billing workflows (e.g., Temporal)
• Ability to design reliable, scalable systems with idempotency, retry logic, and ordering safeguards

• Authorize.net, TypeScript, NestJS, Temporal
• PostgreSQL, Redis
• Cryptocurrency integrations (Solana, Ethereum, Polygon)

• Experience integrating cryptocurrency payment systems (Solana, Ethereum, Polygon)
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance and payment security standards
• Experience with NestJS framework

• Experience working in high-ownership teams, managing systems end-to-end (design → deploy → monitor)
• Familiarity with TypeScript monorepo environments (React/Next.js, NestJS, Prisma/PostgreSQL, Redis, Temporal, Cloudflare R2)
• Experience with self-hosted infrastructure and structured deployment workflows (staging to production)
• Strong testing practices with emphasis on real-world scenarios and system reliability

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial systems
• Clear communication, especially during incidents and system issues
• Ownership mindset with accountability for critical revenue-impacting systems

• Own the full payment stack: Authorize.net and cryptocurrency payments (Solana, Ethereum, Polygon)
• Build and maintain the subscription state machine - activation, upgrades, downgrades, cancellation, past-due recovery, and suspension flows
• Design reliable webhook processing with idempotency guarantees, retry logic, and ordering safeguards
• Implement billing reconciliation workflows (hourly, daily, monthly) with audit trails and anomaly detection
• Build refund and chargeback handling workflows
• Add comprehensive test coverage for payment flows - integration tests and end-to-end subscription lifecycle tests
• Implement fraud detection rules and rate limiting on payment endpoints
• Support PCI compliance requirements and payment security best practices
