Senior Cloud Network Engineer (Permanent WFH and Night Shift)
SUMMARY
The Network Engineer is a hands-on, client-facing role focused on network operations, infrastructure security, and client delivery. You will manage and enhance networks supporting a global managed cloud platform across multi-tenant environments, Azure, AWS, and global WAN infrastructure for hedge funds and asset managers in the UK and US.
You will serve as a network escalation point, own incidents end-to-end, and collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and client technology teams to improve resilience, security, and automation. The role involves administering switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and proxy solutions across hybrid client environments.
Working within a global follow-the-sun support model alongside teams in New York, London, Belgrade, the Philippines, and India, you will ensure high availability, performance, and security standards through disciplined operations, documentation, and change management.The role also includes scheduled on-call support during weekends and holidays.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Network Operations & Incident Management
- Provide 24/7 support for multi-tenant client networks and internal systems.
- Monitor and manage switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and proxy infrastructure.
- Act as a network escalation point, owning incidents through resolution and coordinating with vendors and carriers.
- Manage tickets within SLAs, perform root-cause analysis, and drive permanent fixes.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotations.
- Client Onboarding & Delivery
- Design, deploy, and support LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and firewall solutions for UK and US clients.
- Manage hybrid networking across on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments.
- Configure VPN tunnels and firewall policies using structured change management.
- Collaborate with global engineering and project teams in a follow-the-sun support model.
- Align network changes with client strategy and platform standards.
- Security & Compliance
- Support compliance frameworks including SEC, FCA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST controls.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams on firewall reviews, vulnerabilities, and remediation.
- Assist with audits, DDQs, and evidence requests related to network controls.
- Contribute to capacity planning, resilience, and risk management across global infrastructure.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Build monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and operational runbooks.
- Develop automation scripts to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, IP plans, and configurations.
- Improve operational standards, change management, and post-incident processes.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration
- Work closely with teams across New York, London, Belgrade, the Philippines, and India.
- Coordinate with Client Technology Managers, Cybersecurity, and Engineering teams on client engagements.
- Support onboarding, platform expansion, and network design initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance client environments through additional platform capabilities.
- Experience in 1st and 2nd line support for Windows servers, desktops, Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Entra ID, and business applications.
- Background supporting complex, client-facing environments with strict SLAs in MSP or multi-tenant environments.
- Ability to manage multiple client environments and resolve complex incidents end-to-end.
- Financial services, hedge fund, or asset management industry experience preferred.
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, NAT, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and core networking concepts.
- Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, WAN, wireless, and proxy technologies.
- Experience with Fortinet and Cisco Meraki; exposure to Palo Alto, Cisco, or Juniper is a plus.
- Familiarity with VMware virtualization, Wireshark/tcpdump, and cloud networking in Azure or AWS.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and ITIL-based ticketing and change management processes.
- Nice to Have
- Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, PCNSE, AZ-700, AWS Advanced Networking, or ITIL Foundation.
- Wireless networking or RF survey experience.
- Should be willing to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement.
- Should be amenable to a permanent night shift schedule.
