Underwriting Assistant

General Purpose:

Assist the Department Head in achieving departmental goals, focusing on accurate underwriting, timely policy issuance, and coordination with underwriting organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and underwrite insurance applications within assigned authority
  • Encode applications and perform MID checking
  • Prepare and issue policy contracts for individual accounts
  • Draft correspondence (requirements, follow-ups, approvals/declines)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly underwriting and issuance reports
  • Maintain records, files, and policy logs
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external organizations (e.g., HOLUAP)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (any relevant field)
  • Knowledge of underwriting/insurance processes is an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office and administrative systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • With underwriting training/seminars (HOLUAP/PSIM) is a plus
