Summary

The Dean of College serves as the academic head and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of their respective college. This role is responsible for the strategic leadership, fiscal management, and academic integrity of all programs within the college.

The Dean works in close partnership with the Vice-President for Academic Affairs to ensure that the college’s development programs align with the overarching mission and vision of the institution.

Duties & Responsibilities
 I.  Academic Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Program Development: Formulates and implements long-term development programs and targets in consonance with institutional goals.
  • Curriculum Oversight: Plans, implements, and evaluates all academic activities, ensuring they meet both internal standards and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requirements.
  • Faculty Governance: Presides over regular and special faculty meetings and monitors daily faculty attendance.
II. Administrative & Personnel Management
  • Staff Supervision: Directs and supervises Assistant Deans, Chairmen, Coordinators, Instructors, and Laboratory Technicians to ensure proper performance of duties.
  • Workload Coordination: Schedules and assigns teaching loads in coordination with Department Chairs, other Deans, and the Registrar.
  • Talent Management: Recommends the hiring, promotion, or separation of faculty and support staff to the VP for Academic Affairs and HRD Manager.
  • Professional Growth: Leads the organization of seminars, workshops, and in-service training for faculty and staff development.
III. Student & Operational Oversight
  • Student Affairs: Oversees the screening, retention, and promotion of students, and recommends deserving candidates for scholarships or financial aid.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Prepares and updates the college’s proposed annual budgets and monitors financial performance.
  • Conflict Resolution: Meets with staff, faculty, and students to address academic and non-academic grievances or inquiries.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conducts annual or semi-annual performance reviews of faculty using student evaluations, peer reviews, and direct observations.
Qualifications
  • Academic Credentials:
Required: Holder of an appropriate Doctoral Degree (PhD).

○ Specialization: Per institutional priority, strong preference is given to candidates with a

PhD in Mathematics or the Sciences.
  • Professional Experience:

○ Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable teaching experience in a higher education setting.

○ Ideally, at least two (2) years of satisfactory managerial experience in School Administration and Supervision.
