Structural Design Engineer

Job Summary

Responsible for providing advanced structural analysis, preparing construction ready designs, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring that all structural elements are safe, buildable, and compliant with project specifications and codes. This role requires strong collaboration with project managers, architects, site engineers, and construction teams to ensure effective translation of design into execution.

1. Structural Design & Engineering

• Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, and composite structures used in building and infrastructure projects.
• Lead structural modeling and analysis using tools such as ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, AutoCAD, and Revit Structure.
• Evaluate and incorporate geotechnical data for foundation and substructure design.
• Ensure adherence to local building codes and standards (e.g., NSCP, ACI, AISC) and company quality procedures.

1. Support to Construction Activities

• Provide direct technical assistance to project sites, ensuring that structural designs are properly implemented.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions from subcontractors.
• Issue timely responses to RFIs, site instructions, and technical queries.
• Conduct structural site inspections to validate compliance and quality workmanship.

1. Coordination & Collaboration

• Work closely with the Construction, Planning, QA/QC, and Procurement teams to ensure feasible and cost-effective structural solutions.
• Collaborate with architects and MEP engineers to address structural interfaces and resolve design clashes.
• Participate in coordination meetings, client presentations, and design workshops.

1. Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare structural reports, design documents, as-built documentation, and calculations for submission.
• Ensure all engineering outputs align with regulatory requirements and project specifications.
• Support documentation for permits, approvals, and compliance certifications.

1. Project & Team Leadership

• Lead design tasks and provide mentorship to junior engineers and CAD/BIM staff.
• Assist Project Managers in preparing cost estimates, material take-offs, and technical proposals.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimize structural efficiency and reduce project costs without compromising safety.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Must be a licensed Civil Engineer (PRC or equivalent).
• Additional certifications (e.g., ASEAN Engineer, PE/SE) are an advantage.

• Proficiency in structural analysis & modeling software: STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Robot SA, AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla
• Strong understanding of:
• Concrete and steel design o Foundation engineering
• Seismic and wind design
• Construction methods and sequencing
• Structural detailing and BIM workflows

• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple project deadlines.
• Familiarity with construction site conditions and practical engineering solutions.

• Experience in high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, commercial structures, industrial projects, and infrastructure works.
• Proven background working closely with construction teams and handling design-to-build challenges.
• Exposure to design-build, EPC, or contractor-side engineering environments.
