About the role

You will work closely with our management team to identify and mitigate risks, provide training, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

1. Conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
2. Developing, implementing, reviewing safety policies, procedures and programmes to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
3. Providing safety training and education to employees to increase awareness and promote safe work practices
4. Investigating and documenting incidents, accidents and near-misses, and recommending remedial actions to prevent recurrence
5. Collaborating with departmental managers to address safety concerns and implement solutions
6. Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports on the company's safety performance
7. Staying up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices

1. A bachelor's degree in a related field is an advantage.
2. Minimum of 1-2 years' experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role within the construction, shipping, dredging, and engineering industries
3. Willing to accept project-based employment.
4. Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with employees at all levels
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and mitigate safety risks
7. Ability to provide safety training and promote a positive safety culture
8. Proficient in incident investigation and report writing
9. Relevant safety certifications (e.g. BOSH, COSH) is a must.
