The Accounting Officer is responsible for overseeing the daily financial operations of the company. This role ensures the integrity of financial data by managing accounts payable and receivable, performing regular bank reconciliations, and preparing comprehensive monthly financial statements.
The successful candidate will maintain rigorous monitoring systems to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities- General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Maintain and update the General Ledger to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
- Prepare and analyze Monthly Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow).
- Prepare adjusting journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Assist in year-end audit requirements and tax compliance filings.
- Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR)
- AP: Verify, process, and reconcile invoices; ensure timely payments to vendors and maintain accurate aging reports.
- AR: Monitor customer accounts for non-payment or delayed payments; oversee billing/invoicing and ensure collections are posted correctly.
- Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management
- Perform daily or weekly bank reconciliations to match internal records against bank statements.
- Identify and investigate any discrepancies or unexplained bank charges.
- Monitor daily cash flow positions to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Monitoring & Internal Controls
- Monitor departmental budgets and flag significant variances to management.
- Maintain an organized filing system for all financial documents, vouchers, and receipts.
- Ensure all financial processes adhere to internal control policies and local regulatory standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field. (CPA license is a plus).
- Experience: 2–4 years of proven experience in general accounting, AP/AR, or a similar role.
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or Oracle).
- Advanced skills in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet strict monthly reporting deadlines.
