Job Summary:

The General Ledger & Inventory Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring accurate inventory accounting, performing month-end close activities, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and supporting financial reporting.

This role partners with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure inventory movements and financial transactions are properly recorded and analyzed.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger Accounting

Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Support internal and external audit requirements.
Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports.

Inventory Accounting

Monitor inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and write-offs.
Perform inventory reconciliations between ERP and physical inventory records.
Analyze inventory variances and investigate discrepancies.
Review inventory costing and valuation methodologies.
Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
Calculate inventory reserves, obsolescence, and shrinkage provisions.
Ensure inventory-related journal entries are accurately recorded.

Reporting & Analysis

Analyze inventory turnover, aging, and stock movements.
Prepare inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports.
Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls.
Support budgeting and forecasting related to inventory and operating expenses.

Systems & Process Improvement

Maintain inventory and GL master data accuracy.
Assist with ERP implementations, enhancements, and testing.
Recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA preferred but not required.

Experience

3–7 years of accounting experience with General Ledger and Inventory Accounting exposure.
Experience in manufacturing, retail, distribution, or supply chain environments preferred.
Strong understanding of month-end close processes.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, or similar.
